Black Men Inc. of Greater Lansing
Mission Statement
To address the needs of the Black Community in the Greater Lansing Area on issues involving: education, economic development, and the improvement of the quality of life for all citizens.
Founded in 1992, BMIGL is a non-profit corporation of volunteers. Our purpose is positive, and the group seeks to establish stronger channels of communication between various state, local, educational, religious, and civic organizations in Mid-Michigan. BMIGL is an independent, non-partisan organization, and is not formally affiliated with any national, regional, or other parent body. Our special focus is to develop and implement programs that will enhance the lives of African-Americans and other minority groups in the Greater Lansing Area. Since our inception, BMIGL has worked closely with other community organizations that share a commitment to a prosperous future for upcoming generations.

Recognizing and encouraging high achievement amongst African-American students at the primary and secondary levels.
Take A Child Christmas Shopping
BMIGL members take underprivileged kids on a Christmas Shopping trip.
Mentor Programs
Providing an in-school presence that allows for discussion and guidance to area high school students.
Black College Tour
A visitation of Historically Black Universities and Colleges in the Southern U.S. for prospective college students.
BMIGL is a sec. 501(C)(4) organization under the Internal Revenue Code. BMIGL charitable and education activities are supported by the BMIGL Charitable and Education Fund, which has a tax-exempt status under sec.501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to the Charitable and Education Fund are tax-deductible.
